JAMB Subject Combination for Biology

Biology as a course of study is a scientific discipline that deals with the study of evolution, living organisms, plant life, and life in general. In other words, Biology is the study of life and living organisms.

Biology as a course of study in Nigeria is quite popular and competitive, almost all the universities in Nigeria offer Biology. The employment prospect for biologists in Nigeria is quite limited, but biologists can pursue an academic pathway and work as teachers and lecturers.

To study biology, one needs to have at least a credit in some compulsory/science subjects in their O-level certificates, these subjects include:- Mathematics, English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc.

After passing the afore-mentioned subjects at O-level, a prospective Biology student needs to know the subject combination he/she has to take in JAMB in order to be considered for admission to study biology. This article will shed light on JAMB subject combinations for biology.

Below are all the requirements that you must have to possess and fulfill to be qualified to apply for admission to study Biology.

UTME and Direct Entry Requirements to Study Biology

1.  2 A-level passes from Chemistry, Biology, Botany/Zoology.

2. NCE merit accepted.

UTME Requirement for Biology

5 SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and any three (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Further Maths, and Technical Drawing)

UTME Subject combination for Biology:

Mathematics, Physics, and any other subjects (Chemistry, Economics, and Biology).

JAMB Subject Combination for Biology

There are three main JAMB subjects required to study Biology,  you come across them in your JAMB UTME examination.

As a candidate, you are required to score at least 180 total in this examination if you want to pursue a degree in biology in any of the accredited Nigerian Universities.

The subject combination includes:-

1. Physics.

2. English Language (Compulsory for all candidates)

3. Mathematics.

4.  The candidate will then choose one subject from these three to complete the subject requirements. (Chemistry, Biology, and Economics.)
