Babcock University located at Ogun State, Nigeria was originally established as the Adventist College of West Africa (ACWA) in 1959 by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In 1975 ACWA (now known as Bacbcok University) became the first institution in Nigeria to sign and operate an affiliation agreement with Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan, USA. Babcock University became one of the first three private universities in Nigeria, in 1999.
